BEAT JUNKIES Celebrates 20 Years

(image taken from http://www.attheecho.com/event/134555/)

If you live in LA and know a thing or two about mobile DJ’s and turntablism, then you should know that the World Famous Beat Junkies will be on tour celebrating 20 years as a crew, starting with a show at the Echoplex on 06/30/2012.  20 years!  And I’ve been listening to them on the radio since the 1990’s!  Crazy!  This is a one time event for LA so check them out.  Tickets are sold out, but there might be limited admission at the door so try to arrive early.

If you can’t make that event, then try to come out to Amoeba in Hollywood on Friday, 06/29/2012, to see them perform before their tour kicks off that Saturday.

Eagle Rock Music Festival 2011

(image taken from http://centerartseaglerock.org/index.php/music_festival)

That’s right!  Going down October 1st, Eagle Rock will be hosting their annual music festival on Colorado Blvd, past Eagle Rock Blvd, from 4:00PM – 11:00PM.  I live in the area so the only complaint I have is the lack of parking  spaces on and around my block – I do wish they had a designated parking area for people checking out the festival.  But what’s dope about this event is Low End Theory has returned to kill the festival again with their raw sound.  Featured DJ’s on stage are DJ D-StylesDaddy KevGaslamp Killer and Flying Lotus.

Going down in Downtown Los Angeles – LIttle Tokyo area – the Museum of Contemporary Art will be exhibiting well-known graffiti art work from the 1970’s to the present from notorious cities of New York City to Los Angeles.  Be sure to check it out from now, until the 8th of August.  LA is the first to feature such an exhibit (YES!  We beat out NYC first!).

The Blue Note

If you are not heading down (or up, depending on your location) to Coachella like me, then check out Trebles & Blue‘s album titled’ The Blue Note.’  A jazz musician based out in LA, this is one person you DO NOT want to sleep on.  Free download of this album can be found on his webpage.  [More info below]
